Zipify vs GemPages: The Honest Conversion Comparison

Zipify's AI writes your words. GemPages' AI copies your layout. One bundles split testing, the other sells it separately. Here's which gap costs you more per visitor.

Two glowing laptop screens on a dark navy desk, one showing lines of sales copy and the other a page layout grid, with an orange split arrow between them.

Which one should you pay for: the builder whose AI writes your words, or the builder whose AI copies your layout?

That's the fork in Zipify vs GemPages, and almost every comparison online skips it. So here's the short answer. Zipify Pages is the better pick if you sell a handful of hero products and want to split test offers and copy without buying a second app. GemPages is the better pick if you need a lot of pages fast, because its $29 plan publishes unlimited pages and its AI rebuilds a layout from a screenshot or URL. On conversions, neither one wins on its own. The builder you'll actually run tests in wins.

Every price, rating and feature below comes from each vendor's Shopify App Store listing, pricing page or help docs, checked on October 7, 2026. Prices move, so check again before you pay.

What does each builder's AI actually do?

This is the part that matters most, and the two tools point their AI at completely different jobs.

Zipify points it at words. The Zipify Pages product page describes an AI Copywriter that generates text for product pages, sales funnels and your site. Starter and Basic include 50 AI copy generations a month. Advanced includes unlimited. Zipify also says its templates come from "10 years of split-tests" on its own $180 million Shopify store. That's the vendor's claim, but it tells you the philosophy: direct-response first, design second.

GemPages points it at layout. The GemAI help doc explains that Image-to-Layout takes a design image, HTML or a URL, reads the visual structure and maps it to editable GemPages elements. It rebuilds how a page looks. It doesn't write your copy. GemPages also has GemPages MCP, which connects to Claude and ChatGPT so you can research content, generate designs and turn HTML into an editable GemPages layout from inside a chat.

Zipify's AI helps you say something. GemPages' AI helps you look like something. A buyer only pays for one of those.

Here's my take. Copying a competitor's layout in 30 seconds is genuinely useful. But a layout copied from another brand carries that brand's argument, built for that brand's buyer. Your buyer has a different objection. Usually it's about price.

How do Zipify and GemPages compare on pricing and features?

Straight from the Zipify App Store listing, the GemPages App Store listing and the GemPages pricing page:

Zipify Pages GemPages
Free plan Development stores only Yes, 1 published page
Entry plan Starter, $19/mo: 5 landing pages, 1 product page Build, $29/mo: unlimited published pages
Mid plan Basic, $39/mo: 15 landing pages, 5 product pages $59/mo tier: adds sales funnels, post-purchase upsells
Top listed plan Advanced, $99/mo: unlimited pages and split tests Enterprise, $199/mo
Yearly billing 10% off ($205.20/yr on Starter) Build $276/yr, about $23/mo
AI for copy AI Copywriter: 50 generations/mo, unlimited on Advanced Not listed as a feature
AI for layout Not listed GemAI Image-to-Layout (300 sections on Build, unlimited on the $59 tier)
AI chat building Not listed GemPages MCP (Claude, ChatGPT), on all plans
Split testing Built in: 1 page and 1 section campaign on Starter and Basic, unlimited on Advanced Separate app, GemX, from $49/mo
Templates 70+ to 125+ (Zipify's page lists both) 400+ (App Store listing)
Rating 4.7 stars, 422 reviews 4.9 stars, 4,255 reviews

Read the page limits twice. Zipify's $19 plan gives you exactly 1 product page. If you want to rebuild your 5 best sellers, you're on the $39 plan at minimum. GemPages gives you unlimited pages at $29.

But then read the testing row. GemPages' pricing page sends A/B testing to GemX, a separate app from the same company, at $49 a month for 10 live experiments, or $99 to $699 a month for the funnel plan. So GemPages Build plus GemX's entry plan is $78 a month. Zipify Basic with a split test included is $39.

One more note. You'll find a GemPages vs Zipify article on the GemPages blog that lists Zipify at 4.6 stars and 390 reviews. That's from January 2026, and it's written by one of the two companies being compared. Read it with that in mind.

Which one helps you earn more per visitor?

Here's the thing. A page builder is a container. What fills it decides the money.

So judge them on the one number that captures both halves of a sale: revenue per visitor, which is conversion rate times average order value. I use it instead of conversion rate alone because a page can close more buyers at smaller orders and still lose. (The full argument is in revenue per visitor vs conversion rate.)

Run the math on a store like this, a hypothetical: 15,000 visitors a month, a 1.4% conversion rate and a $72 average order value. That's $1.01 revenue per visitor (1.4% x $72 = $1.008), or $15,120 a month.

Now rebuild the hero page so it sells. The price objection answered above the fold. A bundle that lifts the order. Reviews where a thumb actually reaches them. Say conversion rate moves to 2.3% and average order value to $88. That's $2.02 per visitor (2.3% x $88 = $2.024), or $30,360 a month. Same 15,000 visitors.

That $15,240 gap is about 150 times the price of Zipify's top plan, and about 195 times GemPages' Build plan plus GemX. The subscription is a rounding error. What matters is which tool gets you to a tested, better page sooner.

The cheapest builder is the one where you actually run the test. The most expensive one is the builder you open once and never test in.

What do the comparison blogs leave out?

Three things, mostly.

The copy. Templates and layout AI handle structure. Neither tool knows your buyer's #1 objection unless you tell it. Zipify's AI Copywriter will write text when you prompt it, and the prompt is still your job (I priced that tradeoff out in AI product page generator vs copywriter). GemPages' Image-to-Layout copies the look of a page you admire, and the words underneath it still belong to somebody else's product.

The testing habit. Wait, scratch "habit." For most founders it's a cost line they keep skipping. Zipify puts one page test and one section test inside its $19 plan, which removes the excuse. With GemPages, testing is a second app and a second bill. That isn't a flaw. It just means you have to decide to test, on purpose.

The proof that counts. The scoreboard for any page is what it earns per visitor, not its template count. Real client numbers, not typical results, and not a promise of what your store will do: our Cooling Bamboo Sheets page went from a 1.0% conversion rate at a $125 average order value, or $1.25 per visitor, to 4.3% at $254, or $10.92 per visitor. On 10,000 visitors that's $12,500 against $109,200. No builder logo produced that. The argument on the page did.

Your buyer never sees which app built the page. They only see whether it answered the question in their head.

Which should you choose: Zipify or GemPages?

Answer these 3 questions in order.

How many pages will you publish this year? 5 product pages or fewer, either works, and Zipify's $39 Basic plan covers you. A catalog of 20 or 30 products with collection pages, seasonal landing pages and advertorials? GemPages' unlimited pages at $29 is the cleaner deal. Zipify only goes unlimited at $99.

Will you split test in the next 30 days? If yes, and you're testing offers on a few hero pages, Zipify's built-in testing is the shorter path. If you're on GemPages, budget for GemX from day one, or you won't test at all.

Who's writing the words? If you want AI help drafting copy inside the builder, that's Zipify. If you already have strong copy and want to rebuild layouts fast, or you like working from Claude or ChatGPT, GemPages' layout AI and MCP fit better.

I'd rather own one page I can test than 40 pages I can't. That's my bias. If your store lives on volume of pages, flip it.

Weighing other builders too? The Zipify alternatives breakdown and the GemPages alternatives list cover the rest of the field, and PageFly vs Shogun shows how to test any builder's mobile speed on your own store. If you'd rather have AI write the whole page, start with the AI product pages guide.

Plug in your own traffic and numbers. If the gap is in the thousands every month, the builder's price isn't your problem. The page is.

What to do next

Before you install either app, open your best seller's page and write down two numbers from the last 30 days: its conversion rate and its average order value. Multiply them. That's your revenue per visitor today. Whichever builder you choose gets judged against that number in 30 days, not against a template count or a star rating.

Frequently asked questions

Is Zipify or GemPages better for conversions?

Neither converts by itself. Zipify bundles split testing and an AI copy generator, so it suits a store testing offers on a few key pages. GemPages gives unlimited pages from $29 a month and layout AI, so it suits a store building lots of pages. The winner is whichever one you'll actually test with.

How much do Zipify Pages and GemPages cost?

On the Shopify App Store, Zipify Pages costs $19, $39 or $99 a month with a 14-day free trial. GemPages has a free plan with 1 published page, then $29, $59 and $199 a month, with lower prices when billed yearly.

Does GemPages have A/B testing?

GemPages' own pricing page points A/B testing to GemX, a separate app from the same company. GemX lists plans from $49 a month on the Shopify App Store, with a 14-day free trial.

What AI features do Zipify and GemPages have?

Zipify Pages has an AI copy generator, with 50 generations a month on Starter and Basic and unlimited on Advanced. GemPages has GemAI Image-to-Layout, which turns a screenshot, URL or HTML into an editable layout, plus GemPages MCP for building pages from Claude or ChatGPT.

Can I switch from Zipify to GemPages?

Yes. GemAI Image-to-Layout can rebuild a live page's layout from its URL, which speeds up the move. It copies structure and styling, so re-check the copy, the offer and the reviews block by hand before you publish.
