Best Shopify AB Testing Apps in 2026, Ranked by Rigor
Every testing app will hand you a winner. Fewer of them stop you from peeking, catch a broken traffic split, or keep Canadian dollars out of your US revenue. Here are 5 apps ranked on statistical honesty.

Here's my hot take. Every testing app on the Shopify App Store will show you a winner. That's the easy part. The hard part is showing you a winner that's true.
So this list of the best Shopify AB testing apps ranks tools on one thing: statistical honesty. Does the app stop you from peeking and calling a test early? Does it warn you when traffic didn't split the way you set it? Does it keep a Canadian dollar order from being counted as a US dollar order? My ranking for 2026: Convert Experiences first for rigor, Intelligems for price and offer tests, Shoplift for fast theme and template tests, ABConvert as the value pick with a built-in split check, and Shopify's own Rollouts as the free starting point with thin reporting.
Every price below was checked on the vendor's App Store listing or pricing page on September 29, 2026. Prices move. Check again before you pay.
Why does rigor matter more than features in a Shopify split testing app?
Because a fake winner costs more than no test at all.
No test leaves your page where it was. A fake winner makes you ship a change, stop looking, and quietly lose money for months while you think you won.
Here's the math, on a hypothetical store. 20,000 visitors a month, split 50/50. The control converts at 2.0% with an $80 average order value. That's $1.60 revenue per visitor, or $16,000 on its 10,000 visitors. On day four the variant is showing 2.3% at the same $80. That's $1.84 per visitor and $18,400 on its 10,000 visitors. A $2,400 gap. The dashboard glows green.
10,000 visitors per arm. Control: 2.0% conversion rate x $80. Variant: 2.3% x $80.
And here's the thing. On day four, that gap is often noise. Evan Miller showed years ago that if you check a test over and over and stop the moment it reads significant at 5%, your actual false positive rate can climb to 26.1%. Roughly one "winner" in four is luck.
A testing app that lets you peek without a guardrail is a slot machine with a nicer dashboard.
That's why I don't rank by template count or editor smoothness. I rank on three checks, the same way I'd look at a page before I believed its numbers.
Which three checks separate an honest ab testing tool on Shopify from a slot machine?
1. A peeking guard. You will look at the dashboard. Everyone does. The question is whether the app's math survives it. The best answer is sequential testing, which is built to be checked at any time. The next best is an app that refuses to call a result until it has held steady for days.
2. A sample ratio mismatch check. Sample ratio mismatch is when the actual split doesn't match the split you set. Say your 50/50 test lands 10,000 visitors in one arm and 9,400 in the other. A chi-square test puts the odds of that gap happening by chance at about 1 in 60,000. Something is broken: a redirect, a caching layer, a consent banner, a bot filter. And a broken split means you're comparing two different crowds.
3. Clean revenue math. If you sell in more than one currency, the app has to convert every order to one currency before it adds anything up. Otherwise a 120 order in Canadian dollars can land in the report as 120 US dollars, and the arm that happened to get more Canadian buyers "wins." The app should also stop one freak $4,000 wholesale order from deciding the test.
Now the apps.
How do the best Shopify AB testing apps compare?
| App | Stats engine | Peeking guard | Split check | Currency and outliers | Listed price (Sep 29, 2026) | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Convert Experiences | Frequentist, Bayesian or sequential | Yes, sequential mode | Yes, chi-square alert at 99% | Revenue tracked in one store currency you pick | Growth $399/mo monthly or $299/mo billed annually; 15-day trial | Rigor, multi-variant tests |
| Intelligems | Bayesian with Monte Carlo simulation | Minimums: 300+ orders per group, 7+ days | Not found in public docs | Converts to store default currency; filters orders over 3 standard deviations | Smart Content $69/mo, Unlimited $349/mo; 14-day trial | Price, shipping and offer tests |
| Shoplift | Bayesian "Probability to Win" | Yes, result must hold for multiple days | Not found in public docs | Not found in public docs | Core $99/mo, Advanced $399/mo (adds price tests); 14-day trial | Template and theme tests |
| ABConvert | Not found in public docs this week | Not found in public docs | Yes, chi-square in Experiment Health Status | Multi-market pricing on Scale plan | Starter $99/mo, Growth $199/mo (adds price tests), Scale $399/mo; 14-day trial | Value, price tests on a budget |
| Shopify Rollouts | Not described in Shopify's analytics docs | No | Not described | Theme experiments don't list order value metrics | Built in, Grow plan or higher | A free first theme test |
"Not found in public docs" doesn't mean the feature is missing. It means I couldn't verify it this week. Ask their support before you buy.
Which app ranks first for statistical rigor?
1. Convert Experiences: the one I'd trust with a big decision
Convert is the only app on this list that attacks peeking head on. Its statistical methods page lays out three engines: frequentist, Bayesian and a sequential mode built on confidence sequences, which lets you watch the data continuously while keeping false positives under control. It also offers Bonferroni or Sidak correction when you test more than one variant at once, which matters the moment you run A vs B vs C.
The split check holds up too. Convert runs a chi-square goodness of fit test and tags the report when the mismatch triggers at 99% confidence. And on Shopify, setup asks you to pick your store's currency, which is then used to track revenue.
The catch is price and effort. Convert's pricing page lists Growth at $399 a month, or $299 a month billed annually, with a 15-day trial. It only works with Online Store 2.0 themes. For a store doing $15,000 a month, that's a lot of software for a small sample.
2. Intelligems: the pick when the test is about money
If your test is about price, shipping thresholds or offers, Intelligems is built for it. The listing says it tests "prices, content, shipping, discounts, checkout, and post-purchase offers" with profit analytics. Smart Content is $69 a month and Unlimited is $349, with a 14-day trial and pricing that scales with order volume. It sits at 4.8 stars from 196 reviews.
The rigor story is solid on money, thinner on timing. Its analytics FAQ says reports use only your store's default currency, and it filters out orders more than 3 standard deviations from the mean. For price tests in other currencies, its multi-currency guide requires fixed prices in each currency so exchange rate swings don't distort the result. That's exactly the currency bug this post is about, handled.
On timing, Intelligems recommends 300+ orders per group and 7+ days, and admits its model doesn't account for day-of-week swings. Treat those minimums as a floor you set before launch.
3. Shoplift: the best built-in brake on impatience
Shoplift tests templates, themes, URLs and, on the Advanced plan, prices. Core is listed at $99 a month and Advanced at $399, with a 14-day trial and a 4.9 rating from 134 reviews.
What I like is how it handles your impatience. Its results page docs say a test can read 95% on a single day and still not be stable, so Probability to Win has to hold above a threshold for multiple days before Shoplift calls anything. That's a peeking guard designed into the dashboard. Its FAQ says most tests need about 10,000 visitors per variant and 14 days, and that it excludes most bots. It can't test checkout pages.
I couldn't find a split check or currency handling in its public docs. Ask.
4. ABConvert: the value pick with a split alarm
ABConvert starts at $99 a month for 1,000 test orders. Price testing starts on Growth at $199, and multi-market pricing needs Scale at $399. Every plan has a 14-day trial. Rating: 4.6 from 84 reviews.
Its best rigor feature is the split alarm. ABConvert's Experiment Health Status runs a chi-square test and shows SRM Yes or No. The help article on how it calculates significance returned a dead page when I checked, so I can't tell you how its engine handles peeking.
5. Shopify Rollouts: free, native and blunt
Shopify added experiments to Rollouts on June 5, 2026. An experiment splits 50/50 by default, ends 90 days after it starts, and needs the Grow plan or higher. It compares whole themes or checkout setups.
The problem is the report. Shopify's rollout analytics docs list conversion rate, bounce rate, reached checkout rate and add to cart rate for theme experiments, and don't describe how significance is judged. A theme can win on conversion rate and lose on order value. Pull the orders and do the math yourself.
What should you do before you install any shopify ab test app?
Honestly? Most stores should fix the page before they buy a testing app. If your theme is already crowded with widgets from an all-in-one app, the Vitals app alternatives swap plan clears that up first.
I'll admit something. The testing tool is the least interesting part of a test. A test compares two ideas. If both ideas are weak, the most honest app in the world will tell you, with great precision, that nothing changed.
That's where the big numbers come from. Real client numbers, not typical results, and not a promise of what your store will do: a bedding brand went from a 1.0% conversion rate at a $125 average order value, $1.25 revenue per visitor, to 3.5% at $231, or $8.10 per visitor. On 10,000 visitors that's $12,500 against $81,000 a month. The full case study numbers are on our results page. No button color test finds that. A page rebuilt around what the buyer is actually asking does.
Rigor protects you from a fake winner. It can't hand you a big one. That comes from the variant.
So the order is: build the strongest page you can, then test it against the old one with an app that won't lie to you. If you've never run a clean test, start with how to A/B test a Shopify product page, then read the store owner's guide to ecommerce A/B testing for sample sizes and bandits. And if a sale is coming, check what to test and freeze during Black Friday.
Plug in your own traffic first. If the gap between the two numbers is small, no app will find it for you in time. Then run the checklist below before your next test goes live.
What to do next
Open your analytics today and find last month's visitors to your top product page. If it's under about 20,000, a split test will crawl, and your first move is a stronger page, not a testing app. Our breakdown of revenue per visitor shows where to look first.
Book Your Profit Audit
A testing app can only pick between the pages you give it, and most stores are testing two versions of the same leak. Book a profit audit and we'll find where your revenue per visitor is leaking, then show you how to rebuild a high-converting product sales page in less than 15 minutes.

P.S. An honest app tells you when you lost. That's worth more than a dashboard that keeps telling you you're winning.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best Shopify A/B testing app?
For statistical rigor, Convert Experiences, because its sequential mode lets you check results any time without inflating false positives and it flags broken traffic splits. For price and offer tests, Intelligems. For fast template and theme tests with a built-in guard against calling winners early, Shoplift.
Does Shopify have built-in A/B testing?
Yes. Since June 5, 2026, Shopify Rollouts can run an experiment between two themes or two checkout setups. Your store has to be on the Grow plan or higher, the default split is 50/50, and an experiment ends 90 days after it starts unless you change it.
What is sample ratio mismatch in an A/B test?
Sample ratio mismatch means the app didn't split traffic the way you set it up, like a 50/50 test that lands 10,000 visitors in one arm and 9,400 in the other. A gap that size is a sign of a broken setup, so the result can't be trusted until you find the cause.
How long should a Shopify A/B test run?
At least one full week, and usually two. Intelligems recommends 300 or more orders per test group and 7 or more days, while Shoplift says most tests need about 10,000 visitors per variant and 14 days. Decide the stopping point before you launch, not while you watch the dashboard.
Can I A/B test prices on Shopify?
Yes, with a third-party app. Intelligems, ABConvert (Growth plan and up) and Shoplift (Advanced plan and up) all list price testing. Shopify Rollouts compares themes and checkout setups, so it's the wrong tool for a price test.
